Sikhs in Cambridge
The Cambridge University Sikh Society is a young and dynamic society open to all members of the University interested in Sikhism. The Society aims to provide a forum for discussion, information on the Sikh philosophy, history, the associated way of life and about issues of current interest and importance to Sikhs. The society organises a number of events throughout the year, inviting prominent speakers to speak on a variety of topics. In addition, it also organises regular social events during term time, as well as meeting on a weekly basis to recite the Sikh evening Prayers.
Places of Worship
Cambridge has a relatively small Sikh population, and as a result there is no permanent Gurdwara in the city. However, there is a monthly Divan (congregation), organised by the local Sikh families that takes place on the last Sunday of each month. The Divan lasts from 2pm till 7pm and consist of kirtan (singing of hymns from the Guru Granth Sahib), katha (discourse on the Guru Granth Sahib) and Langar (community kitchen).
Venue: Arbury Community Centre,
Campkin Road,
Cambridge
CB4 2LD.

Throughout the term the Society also organises trips to local Gurdwara s in Peterborough and Bedford, details of which are sent out in regular e-mails.
